The Nephroid is a ‘quick ‘n dirty’ fold made in the Xenoblood zine workshop November 2018.* (Hosted by Sister Gallery.) What worked in the shop was the making of unfilial relations, sat around a long trestle table with mostly strangers, xeno|others, resisting and resonating academies of theories, randomly piecing together that which comes easiest to hand. With digital work-paths too banal or boring or or simply tedious to set up and just a couple of hours to go, the photocopier gets a work out, horizontal strips, tape, needle ‘n thread, pencil-colour-water-wash, gaffer adds an everyday pop of CAUTION, while cuckoo eggs say something of the strange un-filial parasitical relationships in the avian world. This ‘book’ is made with the help of Pony, her ‘zine’ was a deep-shadow black bound with a surface ripe for transfer of fingerprints; Jon / Strict Face who let me listen to his new release sounds titled New Racer; Grace –who made a book of chance units of measurement – a delicate sublime collation of ordinary papers; Franklin, their book was made of colour and partial images butted right up to each other making more and more; Joel whose bi-lingual hand writing (Franco\English) made a beauty matched only by the presence of the story he shared – and the salad was delicious; Mia who used my scalpel and I didn’t but wanted to see her zine, and to the others who shared initial awkward silence, warming conversation and glue, and those whose zines/books are not yet seen. Thanks too to Xenoblood zine workshop by ITI. “IN THEIR INTERIOR is comprised of Virginia Barratt, Francesca da Rimini and Alice Farmer. The performing avatars, the unholy trinity of Witchmum, Mum 2.0 and Precocious Meme Savant.”

*quick ‘n dirty is Witchmum’s (FdR) preferred mode of writing.

The nephroid (from the Greek ὁ νεφρός ho nephros) is a plane curve whose name means 'kidney-shaped' (compare nephrology). Although the term nephroid was used to describe other curves, it was applied to the curve in this [wikipedia] article by Proctor in 1878.

Here the pup, a comma grown large, sits on the drawing of the photo of her play with another like-creature, both zine and play in the same time, ie., she was at the park while i drew the picture sent. No animals were coerced in . these photos - put something on floor, pup goes for it.
